The latest offering from <a href="http://www.toshiba.com/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="Toshiba">Toshiba</a> is no exception to quality. The <a href="http://storage.toshiba.com/docs/default-source/press-releases/md04aba-v_series_release.pdf?sfvrsn=0" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="md04aba-v series">MD04ABA-V Series</a> has just launched, included is the company’s very first 5TB 3.5”, low RPM HDD.  The drive was specially developed for those guys who want something reliable for the world of surveillance applications.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
In fact, the Toshiba MD04ABA-V series was created to be used in applications like surveillance digital video recorders (SDVR) / hybrid SDVR and surveillance network video recorders (SNVR).</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
How capable is the Toshiba MD04ABA-V series? For a start, the hardware is able to handle surveillance applications, which offer support for up to 32 high definition cameras.  I don’t know about you but I think that’s reliable and flexible.  The Toshiba MD04ABA-V series supports 24/7 operation and will additionally incorporate rotational vibration (RV) sensors.  This is so it will be a suitable solution for use in RAID/multi-HDD based surveillance platforms.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
The HDD comes with a massive 5TB of storage space.  This is great for customers who are wanting to beable to retain higher resolution surveillance video data for longer periods.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
This will have a lower impact on the environment with time, as a lesser number of hard drives will be required and therefore will leave a smaller storage footprint and lower energy costs.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">

Wearable Processor With 30 Days Battery Life

<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
<span style="line-height: 1.5em;">A start-up company based in India, called <a href="http://inedasystems.com/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="inedasystems">Ineda Systems</a>, has officially announced a “wearable processor unit”.  This may well kick off the race to find dramatically better battery life for wearable devices. </span>The wearable tech market has yet to truly explode.  This is in contradiction to the way that some analysts have predicted.  This trend isn’t stopping both industry giants and small start-ups from trying to punch through the market though.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
From the Pebble Smartwatch, to the upcoming Android Wear, and everything in between, companies are still trying to come up with the next best thing!  So has the tipping point been reached?  Will wearable tech soon hit the roof? It is unclear.  Many things stand in the way.  For instance, battery life is a major downside to Smartwatches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh40YO4zZUZrTDqNA8qxUp7iy0QW9lA022Gj5ZebqFzigazWUF0jzzT8QrVZSJnkOnAfGR1qSLOufehhRNGuDn7hex_2T-noi3z3N1Uinp7vn7ujT6OPy5tWzdL6iMb5NOWdQsI6vGBGmo/s1600/processorkera.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh40YO4zZUZrTDqNA8qxUp7iy0QW9lA022Gj5ZebqFzigazWUF0jzzT8QrVZSJnkOnAfGR1qSLOufehhRNGuDn7hex_2T-noi3z3N1Uinp7vn7ujT6OPy5tWzdL6iMb5NOWdQsI6vGBGmo/s1600/processorkera.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
A regular wristwatch will last several years, at times.  Smartwatches, at the early stages, had to be charged everyday.  Devices such as Gear 2 or the <a href="https://getpebble.com/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="pebble">Pebble</a> have batteries lasting 3-7 days but this is not even comparable to standard watches.  The question remains, do people care whether they have to charge their watches often or not?  After all, if you are planning on spending money of this piece of kit, you are doing it for the actual technology, are you not?  However, Ineda Systems are coming close to designing a long lasting processor for Smartwatches.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
The Dhanush chip line has been newly released and could bring up to 1 month plus battery life to Smartwatches and other wearable technology.  There are four different levels.  The first level is the Nano which offers Microcontrollers (MCU) and Static Random Access Memory (SRAM); the second level is Micro, offering 2 level Host Channel Adapter (HCA) and SRAM; the third is called Optima and offers 2 Level HCA, Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) and SRAM; lastly, is the Advanced which has a 3 level HCA, DRAM and SRAM.  These chips will be available in many different products such as fitness trackers and Smartwatches.  The Dhanush chips also perform at 10MHz to 500MHz.  At 500MHz, they are in an ‘always on’ mode, allowing them to take sensor readings at all times of day.  It also has its own built-in security. The chips have also been designed to combine with MIPS processor cores and Power VR graphics for higher-end devices, without compromising battery life.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
But can they attract a large enough market? Already, companies such as Samsung, <a href="http://www.qualcomm.com/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="Qualcomm">Qualcomm</a>, Imagination Technologies and others are invested in Ineda Systems.  They have raised $25 million, they have 180 employees as well as board members who are well known in the technology field.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
They are currently carrying out customer trials and there are rumours that product deals could be made within 3-6 months.  Exciting times are about to befall the wearable technology industry.  We shall have to wait and see!</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">

There are plans by <a href="http://www.intel.com/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="Intel">Intel</a> to release an ultra thin, two-in-one device powered by Intel’s newest processor chip.   Their procesessor, Broadwell, was delayed for more than a quarter.  But customers can expect to purchase new Broadwell-based hardware just before summer holidays.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
Intel plans to jump on the tablet bandwagon hopefully running Google’s <a href="http://www.android.com/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="Android">Android</a> software.  They also plan to have 2-in-1 designs so that their tablets can use keyboards or simply stay a tablet.  Intel’s president, Renee James, will be giving a keynote in Taipei discussing the plans to make these products more desirable.  Reducing size and weight of tablets is first on the list.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

James plans on showing an extremely thin 2-in-1 prototype that is based on a Broadwell chip called the Core M.  The prototype will have a 12.5 inch screen, will measure at just 7.2 mm in thickness when the keyboard is detached, and weigh just 670 grams.  It will be thinner than Apple’s <a href="http://www.apple.com/ipad-air/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="iPad Air">iPad Air</a> but a bit heavier.  It won’t have a fan either, which is normal in tablets but will save power for Intel’s Core line of chips.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
There have been 130 tablets designed on Intel chips already, or will be available this year.  James will also discuss Long-term Evolution (LTE) cellular capability that Intel needs in order to compete with other companies, especially ones like <a href="http://www.qualcomm.com/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="Qualcomm">Qualcomm</a>, which is a mobile-chip giant.  Although there is a focus on tablets, Intel is still considering desk-top PCs which gamers still use as they are more powerful.</div>

James will continue her continue her keynote with a discussion on the new model of the Core i7, a high-end line which will operate at up to 4 gigahertz chip for the desktop model.  It can be even faster using over-clocking, a technique that increases power.</div>

RAM Can’t be Upgraded On New iMac

<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
Earlier this week FastNewsMag reported that Apple released a brand new 21 and 27 inch iMac that was $200 cheaper than more expensive models. While that sounds like a great deal (who doesn’t like to save a couple hundred bucks?!) it turns out that these new, cheaper iMacs suffer from a couple of potential deal-breakers. While they’re fine for desktop users who just need a “basic” computer, more advanced users may find themselves frustrated with their lack of options.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
Macs have been renowned for years because of all of their different upgradeability options. Want to upgrade the hard drive? No problem. Want to upgrade the RAM? No big deal! <a href="http://www.techspot.com/news/57169-the-new-1099-imacs-8gb-of-ram-is-soldered-in-and-not-upgradeable.html" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank">But that unfortunately is not the case with Apple’s new lineup of cheaper iMacs</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As it stands now, users are forever stuck with the 8GB of RAM that the iMac ships out with. Other World Computers (a Mac reseller) obtained one of the computers and wasted no time at all in talking it all apart to see how it ticked. They discovered that its RAM was completely soldered onto it and was unremovable. This may prove to be a major problem for those Mac users who like to be able to upgrade their computers as much as possible.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
Indeed, it seems the only upgradeable option with these new iMacs is the hard drive, which can be upped to 256GB.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">

The new models are now shipped with faster Intel Haswell processors and have a unified floor on RAM capacity (8 GB for the 13″ models, 16 GB for the 15″ models).  This had previously dropped to 4 and 8 GB respectively for the “budget” configurations.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
The default processor speeds on the 13″ model changed from 2.4/2.6 GHz i5 dual-core processors up to 2.6/2.8 GHz; BTO options for the 13″ include a 3.0 GHz dual-core i7 chip. For the 15″ model, both standard configurations have received a similar clock bump to their i7 quad-core CPUs (2.0/2.3 up to 2.2/2.5), with the fastest BTO processor now 2.8 GHz. The price of the higher-end configuration of the 15″ has also dropped $100 to $2499.  This is also the case for the <a href="https://www.apple.com/uk/macbook-pro/specs/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="MacBook Pro Specs">non-Retina 13″ MBP</a> (from $1199 to $1099).</div>

These updates should be available for immediate shipping.  What happens if you have just purchased a Retina MacBook Pro in the past 2 weeks in an Apple Store?  Don’t panic! You can return it for the newer model.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">

PC Gaming is Becoming More Popular Than Console Gaming

<div style="background-color: white; color: #5f6d80; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23.310400009155273px;">
How do you like to game? Are you solely a console person? Maybe you prefer the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4? Or, maybe you’re still hooked to the Xbox 360 or the PS3. Or, maybe you don’t like consoles at all and you depend on your PC to take care of all of your gaming needs. If you find yourself in the latter category, you’re definitely not alone – and your group is getting bigger and bigger every day. <a href="http://www.techspot.com/news/57051-pc-gaming-is-on-the-rise-in-the-console-vs-pc-race-it-looks-like-pc-is-surging-ahead.html" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank">According to a recent video gaming survey compiled by DealNews, it seems PC gaming is now more popular than console gaming</a>.</div>

I’ll admit – when I was younger and couldn’t afford buying an expensive video game system, I’d play games on my PC. Admittedly, not many high-end games would work on my low-end computer, but it was still fun for a kid. And now, it seems, the tables have turned – consoles are cheaper and high-end gaming computers are now more expensive. One thing has stayed the same, though – whatever the mode, people still love to play video games, and some for far longer than others. Have a look below at some of the results DealNews found in their survey:</div>

If you use Microsoft Windows as your operating system of choice, then one of the easiest ways to erase hard drive data, is to go to My Computer, right click and select Manage. This will then open the computer management window.  Click on disk management.  Next you will see a list of discs depending on the number of partitions you have on your PC. Select the disc you want to erase.  You will then be taken to another window with one of the options to perform a Quick Format.  Also if you want to rename the disc, you can do this here.  Once you click OK, you will be given a warning, which informs you that formatting will erase everything on the hard drive.  Another way to erase all the data on a Hard Drive is by re-installing the Windows operating system and informing the PC to delete the current partition and install on a fresh one.</div>

If you use a Mac operating system then you can erase your data by navigating to the Applications folder and then the Utilities folder.  Inside Utilities, will be a program called Disk Utility. If you open this, you will be given a list of drives that are currently mounted on the computer.  In the left side of the window you will see a list of drives, select the one you want to format and click Erase. This is also where you can give the drive a fresh name if you so wish.</div>
